Folio

A folio number is the account number a fund house assigns to your holdings with it — similar to a bank account number, but issued per Asset Management Company (AMC). One folio can hold several schemes from the same fund house. You can end up with multiple folios at one AMC when application details differ, which makes tracking and nomination harder. Consolidating them simplifies statements. Your folio is separate from your KYC (Know Your Customer) record, which is registered once and shared across the industry.
