An AMC (Asset Management Company) is the company that runs a mutual fund's schemes. It employs the fund managers, makes the buy and sell decisions, and publishes the NAV (Net Asset Value) each business day. Every AMC is registered with SEBI and operates alongside a separate trustee company that holds the scheme's assets on investors' behalf, so your money never sits on the AMC's own balance sheet. Your folio number is issued per AMC, which is why holdings across different fund houses are tracked separately and appear on separate statements.
