Claim settlement ratio
The claim settlement ratio is the percentage of claims an insurer settled out of those it received in a financial year. A ratio of 98% means 98 of every 100 claims were paid. It is published annually and is a useful but partial signal: it counts claims rather than rupees, and mixes small routine claims with large complex ones. It also says nothing about how quickly a claim was paid or how often one was disputed. Read it alongside the amount-settled ratio and complaint volumes, not on its own.
